Inter made the biggest financial loss in the history of Italian football – 245,000,000 euros!

The fiscal year that ended on June 30 brought a loss of 245,000,000 euros to Inter Milan!

That is a record minus for a club in the history of Serie A in a year. The club’s revenues in the same period amounted to 364,700,000 euros, but obviously they had to be drastically higher in order for Inter to end the year in the black.

"The financial year 2020/21 was significantly marked by the consequences of the socio-economic crisis caused by the corona virus pandemic. In that context, we had reduced revenues, which in the end amounted to 364,700,000 euros, so a loss of 245,000,000 euros was recorded. The reason for that mostly lies in the fact that we had closed stadiums and that we did not have income from visitors.

We also had reductions in contracts with sponsors who felt the effects of the crisis. The sports season was crowned with winning the title of champion of Italy, which our fans have been waiting for for 11 years. The club made another historic step in the fiscal season 2021/21, as the coat of arms and visual identity of the club were changed. The club reacted in the right way in the rebalance policy in order to ensure financial stability and sports competitiveness. Summer transfer activities will have an additional positive impact in the future. The return of the stadium to full capacity and the return of the fans will again enable the club significant revenues and reduce the losses recorded in the last fiscal year ", said Inter.

The financial crisis at Inter began with the problems of Chinese owners. The company Suning, which is officially the majority owner of the club, suffered huge losses in China, due to which the local club Jiangsu Suning, which was the state champion, had a large budget and brought bad names. Inter could not count on the help of Suning and his family Zhang which is the owner of the company, so he had to sacrifice two of the best players last summer Romelua Lukakua i Ashraf Hakimija. The two of them were sold for 175,000,000 euros, and it was only bought from reinforcements Denzel Dumfries for 12,000,000 euros, while Joaquin Korea borrowed at a price of 5,000,000 euros from the condition of mandatory purchase next summer for 26,000,000 euros. They came without compensation Edin Dzeko i Hakan Chalhanoglu.
