UN Habitat impressed by Belgrade’s results – 24sata online

The Mayor of Belgrade prof. Dr. Zoran Radojicic met in the Old Palace with Maimun Maud Sharifi, Executive Director of UN Habitat (United Nations Settlement Program).

– I am very satisfied with today’s conversation. UN Habitat does not have an office in Belgrade at the moment, so the news that this United Nations agency will be present in our country from next year is very good. The UN Habitat document "New Urban Agenda”, which was, among other things, discussed at this meeting, is very interesting. Everything that has been done so far, as well as our plans for Belgrade, fit into what the "New Urban Agenda” envisages – said Mayor Radojicic.

During the meeting, members of the City delegation held a presentation through which the UN Habitat delegation could get acquainted with the General Urban Plan, details of the Line Park project, as well as the City’s activities in terms of environmental protection and improving the quality of life of Belgraders.

– Our guests were impressed by everything that the City has done so far and we received praise, which is our motive to continue in the same direction. Based on what they saw in the presentation, they suggested which UN Habitat projects Belgrade could get involved in and contribute to. Also, Maud Sharifi sent an invitation to the City to participate in the World Urban Forum, which will be held in Poland in June 2022, as she believes that it would be very useful for other world cities to get acquainted with the results achieved by Belgrade – concluded the first man of Belgrade.
